FROM HIS HEART MINISTRIES

Website Redesign

From His Heart Ministries is a content-rich platform built to share sermons, resources, and messages with a wide audience. With so much content available, the site needed to make it easier for people to find what they were looking for without feeling lost in it.

THE CHALLENGE

A lot of content, not a clear way through it.

The site housed a large volume of media. It included audio, video, written content, and a full e-commerce experience, but lacked clear organization and intuitive navigation.

A key challenge was designing for a broad audience, including many older users, which meant prioritizing clarity, readability, and ease of use at every level.

The existing store experience was especially difficult to navigate, relying heavily on search with little structure for browsing, making it hard for users to find what they needed.

THE APPROACH

Structure first, clarity always.

Before moving into design, I focused on organizing the content in a way that felt intuitive and easy to navigate.

THIS INCLUDED

  • defining clear pathways for browsing content

  • simplifying page structures to reduce friction

  • prioritizing readability and hierarchy for accessibility

For the store, I reworked the browsing experience to allow users to filter content by topic, format, type, and scripture, making it easier to explore and narrow down results.

Once selected, filters show up as removable tags so users can clearly see what’s applied and easily tweak or clear individual selections to get to what they’re looking for faster.

Designed with the user in mind.

Because a large portion of the audience skews older, the design intentionally prioritizes clarity over complexity.

Layouts were kept clean and consistent, with thoughtful spacing, legible typography, and clear visual hierarchy to support ease of use.

The color choices were intentionally kept neutral to balance the wide range of media artwork across the site, letting the content stand out without overwhelming the experience.

Soft blues bring in a sense of trust and calm, while warm neutrals keep everything feeling approachable and easy to engage with.

Built through collaboration & structure.

Due to the scale and complexity of the site, this project required close collaboration across design and development.

I worked alongside a project manager and backend developer (and at times a frontend developer)to collaborate on a strategy for organizing content so it felt easy to navigate and not overwhelming, both in the design and behind the scenes.

Multiple working sessions were used to break down the content, identify gaps, and rebuild the experience in a way that felt cohesive and scalable.

The store was redesigned from the ground up to support better browsing and discovery.

Products were systematically tagged behind the scenes to support dynamic filtering, allowing users to explore content in a more intuitive and flexible way.

I also designed a fully custom cart and checkout experience, ensuring a clear, straightforward flow from selection to purchase.

Reimagining the store experience.

THE RESULT

A more intuitive, accessible experience.

The final design brings clarity to a highly content-rich platform, making it easier for users to explore, discover, and engage with content.

With a more structured navigation system and improved filtering capabilities, users can now find what they’re looking for quickly, while the overall experience remains approachable and easy to use.

This project reinforced my approach to design as both a creative and structural discipline, balancing clarity, usability, and real-world constraints.
